The heat has finally lessened a little and the grass is turning green again from the rain. There's kind of a hint of fall in the air. It's been so dry here that our leaves are even falling prematurely. It's just been a difficult summer, weatherwise, & we're hoping for a long, slow autumn.
My latest project is trying to make lamps. If I'm going to make shades then I need lamps to go with them. Personally, I have a difficult time finding lamps that I really like. This is a wonderful old architectural piece I found. I'm thinkin' it would be a really cool lamp. What do you think? And if I do, would it bother you if the cord comes out the top or should I have a hole drilled through the center to run the cord?
I've also tried to find a bunch of candlesticks to use with my candles I sell at Leola's. All of a sudden mine have sold & with a new shipment of candles just in, I needed replacements. Trying to decide rather to paint these or leave them "as is". I'm thinkin' they would be great all black.
Love this German bread board. I found it on my last trip to Iowa in the Amana Colonies. Bread boards are one of the things I collect and it's difficult to find one at a really good price. This one was a real bargain.....I think the woman knew it was going to a good home.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. It's supposed to be cooler here so maybe I'll get something accomplished.

I had been missing your blogs! Glad you are back!
I vote for drilling a hole up the middle!
I've wondered where you were! I'm so glad the we've had this break in the heat and dry. I'm SO so ready for fall. and can't wait for your open house at Leola's!
I agree Black for the candle sticks:O)
I would drill a hole in the middle for the lamp cord.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs,
Lynn
Welcome back, I was wondering if your house sold and you were packing...I am ready for fall too!
You're just having a momentary funk , it will pass and you will feel newly energized , (happens to me all the time,)Where do you go to get a hole drilled in a wood piece ? It will make a cool lamp . I have Hard time finding lamps I like too .
We all have slumps for one reason or another. Times when we just don't feel like doing a thing. Sounds like you've got some projects to keep you busy. Have fun! Best wishes, Tammy
I think all your pieces would make cool lamps and I saw one in a shop last winter that was made out of one of the big fat table legs..that was cool too
Can't wait to see what you come up with :)
I always find it hard to find lamps I like too. I should think of making them out of some of the bits I have. Such a good idea!
I think I would drill it.
I hope you get a break in your weather. It has been so hot for you guys. I wish I could send you some of our cool weather.
