Happy Tuesday.....

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  Ours was a little crazy.  My son-in-law's grandmother is near death in Arkansas so John and his sister, Jessica, and her husband, Jason, had to leave and make a hurried trip to be with their Mom and Grandfather.  So our dinner was put off until evening.  Allison, the three grandkids and I stayed around the house and cooked and built gingerbread houses.

 

They have been making gingerbread houses on Thanksgiving for years now.  Gives them something to do while waiting for pumpkin pie.  It's amazing how good they've gotten.

 



It turned out to be a good day.  So sorry about John's grandmother.  She's been ill for quite some time now.  It's always so hard on those who love them and have to sit and wait.  I pray that she will go gently.

Today is a bright, sunshinny day and Ginny is coming to finish the cabinets.  I love the way they've turned out and how bright my kitchen is.  Today, I'm contacting a painter and hopefully, get the walls done.

Thanksgiving week.....

It's going to be a busy week.  Thanksgiving will be at my kids' house so I can relax.  My job is to make the dressing.  The knobs for my kitchen cabinets should be in this week so I can at least get them on the drawers.  Will have to wait until my brother-in-law can come back to get the doors up (they have to have new hinges).  I'm thinkin' I'll wait until after the holidays to paint.

It's been really busy at Leola's so I'm trying to get some things made.  I love that my handmades have been appreciated and have sold.  That always inspires me to do more.

Would you believe that I'm still eating my tomatoes from the garden.  I had to pick them all a few weeks ago but they've ripened in the house and are yummy.  I'm a big believer in heirloom tomatoes and these are the varieties that have done so well.

These were enjoyed with cottage cheese with chives sprinkled on the top (one of my favorite lunches).

There were a few heartier herbs left in the garden including some rosemary.  I cut some and made a little wreath for my kitchen window.

Hope to get a jump start on some Christmas decorating.  I always love it when Thanksgiving comes early because I feel like we have an extra week before we have to start stressing.

Happy Thanksgiving....

I'll be having Thanksgiving at my house for just my little family. It's so hard to take 3 little kids to a house full of grown-ups so we decided to just stay here where they can play and we can build a gingerbread village. I've already made 2 pumpkin pies and have everything ready for the stuffing. The turkey is thawed and ready for the oven. We'll have cranberry relish, green beans, mashed potatoes and Allison is bringing dirty rice. Sounds like a big lunch!

Hope it's a great Thanksgiving for everyone. I have so many things for which to be grateful. It's been a difficult year but I've been blessed by so many family and friends who have been there for me. I'm so thankful for my wonderful daughter Allison, son-in-law John, & those 3 dear g'children. Sister Judy who never fails to call and check on me. I'm thankful for Brenda and Jane who are always there for me. For Susan and Mike who are so supportive and have truly been a God-send this year. There are so many others who call and ask me to dinner (Cathy, Don, & Linda) and sweet nephew Michael who calls me for no reason but just to check. All the women at Leola's who have been such good friends and have kept me challenged and excited about life. There are so many more but since they don't read my blog they won't know I didn't mention them by name. I'm also thankful for all of you who have been such a support to me and for keeping me company when I was feeling lonely.
