A day at the office....

Yesterday was work day at Leola's so thought a few pictures were in order.  I had some new pieces for my area but before any furniture moving could be done, the vacuum had to be run.  We sold several pieces over the weekend and the shop was a mess.  Luckily, sister Jean came in and helped with vacuuming.  It was one of those Mondays when nothing much happened until afternoon so I got lots of work done.  It was also one of those days when everyone was waiting to get in Lamberts (home of throwed rolls) and wanted to use Leola's as a wait station and pit stop.  At one time all our chairs were full of people discussing the fact that they still had 30 min. to wait to be seated.  We finally had to tie ribbons across some white chairs to keep people out of them.  They ask to use the restroom & get huffy when you tell them you have no public restroom and then leave without spending a penny.  Do I sound bitter????  Some days are definitely worse then others and yesterday was one of them.  Luckily, we had paying customers come in so we ended up having a really good day.  Yea!!!!

OK!  I'm over my little rant.  Hope you'll come in and see us.  We have some wonderful merchandise right now and would love for you to see it.  Have a great Tuesday and stay cool.

Farmer's Market & my yard.....

I love the farmer's mkt. We're really blessed to have the choices we have in our part of the country. Lots of organic offerings too. We also have amazing flowers. One of the best is Donald. He's been at the market for as long as I've been going. Everyone (including my g'kids) know his name and he remembers everyone from year to year. If I need help with my flowers, he's the man I go to.

This is one of my zucchini plants I put in my front yard. The big yellow flower is great in a flower bed plus the fact that this dirt has never grown vegies.

This is my backyard garden. We've had a long, cool spring which is perfect for those early crops.

This is another workday so I'm off to Leola's. Monday was a big day for Lamberts so we had lots of people strolling (1 1/2 hr. wait for lunch) so hopefully, we'll have "real" shoppers today.

Mindy & David came for a visit.....

We had visitors at Leola's on Sunday. Primitiques 'n Poetry Mindy & David from http://snakelover61.blogspot.com came to visit us on Sunday after a meal at Lambert's (home of throwed rolls). They only had to wait an hour. Lucky for them that Ozark is an antiquer's dream. I loved meeting them after all these weeks of talking to each other through our blogs. It was hard to stop talking long enough for them to get any shopping done but they managed a little. We also got to wish David a "happy birthday".
We've worked so hard the last few days at the shop. We sold lots of furniture last week so on Sunday we worked inside bringing in new pieces so today we finished inside then worked on our front porch. Judy and Linda planted ferns and flowers in the urns (I swept the sidewalks). It looks so good and springy. We were told it needed to be "feminined up" out front so we think we did it. Nothing makes Judy angrier then for a guy to come in looking for NASCAR collectibles.

Allison and the girls came to visit and the girls decided to try on Carol Ussery's hats. She carries hats and lots of vintage millinery flowers. Aren't they adorable?

My latest bread baking adventure.

This is my latest attempt at bread baking. It's another recipe from http://mennonitegirlscancook.blogspot.com/ and it was delicious. After church on Sunday I went to the kid's house for lunch and took the rolls. John had fixed a tenderloin & we made sandwiches with the tenderloin and avocados. It was great! I'm really getting into this bread baking. The only real problem is that it may cause a serious weight issue.

This was a busy weekend at Leola's. The new tearoom will be opening on April 2 & that should be a real plus. They have been practicing their menu and their food is wonderful. They will be such an asset to our little area. The name will be Lemon Drop Tearoom. This is the time that everything starts buzzing in Branson and the lines start at Lamberts (home of throwed rolls). The buses are already starting to appear again. Spring is in the air!!

Shopping at Leola's!

I was working in the shop this morning & Kelli & I were trying to figure out what is doing best in the shop right now. Needless to say, on any given day it could be something different (& usually is), but we seem to consistently sell our primitives well. Even with French decorating being so "hot", that good old primitive Americana still ends up the winner. Here are a few things I took pictures of today.

We have 2 of our renters who have sold primitives for years & they don't deviate much from that. My sister Linda & I also have quite a bit of the American primitives. There just always seem to be collectors around looking for the really good early "stuff".
We have lots of visitors from out-of-town who make it a point to check the shop out when there in town or headed to Branson. You would never know it by our parking lot (& Lamberts) that the price of gas is almost $4.00. Thank you God!!!!!

This was some things Judy had arranged on a table & I loved the way it looked.

These were 2 of our visitors from last week (mother & daughter). Mother bought a picnic tin for her collection & daughter bought one of Debra's watches.
