Busy Saturday......

Well, everyone in this part of the country is celebrating the Cardinals winning the World Series.  It's been great fun watching such exciting games.  I must admit I can't just watch a tense game.  I have to switch stations sometimes to give me a break.  Fireworks were going off somewhere around my house last night after the game ended.  Thanks, Cardinals, for giving us a little break from all the craziness in the world.

My idea for my area at Leola's holiday open house is to reflect simplicity and peacefulness.  My main tree will have these hangers and short candles all over it along with a few surprises.  Love these battery candles and especially the gentle glow without the traditional lights.

This is one of the little snowmen I made.  They were so much fun -- except for the sparkle that's still all over the kitchen.

This is one of my little sweet annie trees.  I'm still working on it but love the primitive look of it plus everytime it's touched, it smells so good.

This is the first lampshade I've made since taking my class in Vermont.  I made it from an old runner.  Would love to get a few made but not sure I have the time.  We start decorating the shop on Sunday and then will be closed on Mon., Tues., Weds. & until Thurs. evening at 5:00.  It's hard work but so fulfilling when we open that door Thurs. night.

Guess I'd better get the day started.  Think I'll go to our farmer's mkt. this morning.  I'm thinking this might be the last day.  We're lucky because we now have stores that will continue to carry our local produce and everything they can find that's made locally.  Love it that we have so many people in our area that are working to help support our local farmers & craftspeople.

Have a great weekend!

Busy week......

This has been a crazy, busy week.  I've been working so hard to get things done for open house at Leola's.  My garage is bursting at the seams.  It will be nice to be able to park the car inside again.

Allison's cousin, Jenni, (my niece) & her 2 daughters have been here for a visit.  They live in Colorado so they don't get to see each other very often.  Thanks to their Moms, the kids have stayed really close & they were so excited to see each other.  Allison & Jenni have always been close & thanks to the Internet, it's much easier now.

We're finally having some cool, fall weather & it's a delight. Leaves are falling like crazy. It's been dry so not sure how pretty they'll be this year. We're lucky that we still haven't had a killing frost so flowers are still blooming and the garden is still producing. Had to take a drive through the countryside this morning so took a few pictures.

I've been making heating pads to sell at Leola's.  They are wonderful!  They're heated in the microwave & on cold winter nights they are the best.  When my g'kids stay with me & it's so cold, I love to heat them up & put them in their beds.  I've always thought that when they're old, they'll remember their G'ma Jan doing this.
There's so much work to be done & so little time.  I'll say it again, I need an assistant (or two).
