I need a vision!

I've been to the basement & carried up boxes. The back of my car is full of greenery & smells like a Christmas tree. But still I have no vision. I'm having such a difficult time coming up with that spurt that gets you started. Is it just me or were the Christmas magazines a little disappointing this year? What does everyone else do for inspiration? If you have any ideas, pleeeeease let me know. For now, I'm pouring a glass of wine & digging through last years magazines & I'll be waiting patiently for some ideas. Thanks!

Hi Jan. I was in the same boat. It seemed my mantle looked the same every year. Dining room, family room, ditto. This year I just decided it was going to be different and refused to follow the easy path of "Been there, done that". I used mostly vintage things; mostly things I just had laying around waiting for a place at Leola's. I didn't spend any money and it looks pretty good. Silver (gravy boats, baskets, bowls and the such) filled with vintage gold ornaments, two paper churches, and some topiaries on the LR mantle. On my dining room table I used my favorite plaid runner with crystal candlesticks, glass cloches displaying a few of my lamb collection on an antique plateau mirror.(Plus my french basket with greenery and my paper mache goose) This year I decided I wanted it to be "vintage". It's a little "busy", but filled with some wonderful things. I guess I just made a point not to fall into the rut I usually get into.
See ya soon, Debra

Good morning. Best of luck with finding a new decorating idea. I am hoping to get my decorating done within the next day or so....I've got lots of greens all ready to be placed around the house.

I'm with ya Jan...I have'nt even resubscribed to any of my mags...they all seem so dreary and thin(unlike me this season)they seem to have lost advertisers, just a general cutback I think, but very uninspirational. I don't even get excited to get one anymore.

And I agree on the old bed frame...I'll be lookin for somethin red and sparkly (sooo not me), that might cheer me up too.

NO SNOW...NO SNOW...NO SNOW...
(that would really cheer me up)
