Our trip to Olga....

There had been a story in the Springfield News Leader about a young couple who had decided to move back to the tiny town he had grown up in & re-open the old country store that had recently closed. This is his g'mother who helps them out in the store. She was taking a break with an ice cream bar.

We were just hoping for a Dr. Pepper & maybe some Cheetos.
This was a sign in the store window. What does one do with a coon when one catches one. They also have music on summer weekends and everyone brings food.

This was one of several chickens who just wondered around on the property.

I loved this old building.

I love it that young people are coming back to small towns looking for a simpler life style. We see people at Leola's regularly who have moved back here because the cost of land and living in general is so much less then so many other areas (especially California).

Rub it in, Jan! Yep, here in So Cal I've never bought a home. Just too darn expensive! That's why both my son's live and bought their homes in Las Vegas. I need to live close to the ocean. Loved the pictures. Of course you know they reminded me of LaRussell. Wouldn't that be something if young people moved there and Sarcoxie and the little towns grew into pretty places to live again? Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Barbara

Great store and sounds like a real homey place, but my question is "Where is Olga?" never heard of it.(Guess it's close to Fordland) You all are always ready for an adventure!

Loved the pictures! Sounds like a great day trip. Might be a nice little excursion for "retired Dulcy". Also, I think I'll take your advise and invest my fair winnings. I can sit back and watch my little nest egg grow.....

I love it!!! There are so many small towns getting rejuvenated. People want their own space and are willing to drive miles to work just for a place to breathe. I can't wait to visit Palo, Ia where Sharon from Sweet Repose has opened a shop White with a good friend.

I am lovin the country store building. I wish more towns preserved their buildings, ours just either tears them down or builds lawyers offices in them :(

The building looks neat! That last picture with the flag could be a framer, Jan! Loving your new camera? By the way, look for a detailed answer from David about coon hunting! haha I imagine he can tell you all about what happens to the coon. Eeek! haha ~Mindy
