Happy Mother's Day.....

This is my Mom (& Mary's, Judy's, Linda's, Bud's, & Jean's & our siblings who are no longer with us, Andy & June) and my sweet daughter Allison.  We named our shop, Leola's, after her because she had always been with us at our old shop and we wanted to bring her along for the ride.  She's been gone over 12 yrs. now but hardly a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her.  She was a wonderful mother.

Mom was orphaned when she was very young and was shifted from here to there for much of her young life.  It left her with such a desire to have a family and a home and she was so good at making certain her family always felt safe and secure.  She was a terrific cook and spent most of her life in the kitchen.  With 9 kids and a husband, it was hard to get much done besides cooking and cleaning up.

When we all started having children, she was always there to love them.  I think everyone of our kids thought they were her favorite.  When she died, we found I think every card and every piece of artwork they ever did for her.

On this Mother's Day I'll think of her often as I'm sure the rest of the family will.  John's fixing all his "mom's" burgers tomorrow so I'll be with Allison and her family.  I'm so sorry that my mom couldn't know Allison's babies.  Oh, how she would have loved them -- & how they would have loved her.

Hope all of you mothers have a wonderful day.

Hi Jan!

What a sweet tribute. And now I know the origin of the name Leola's!

Thank you so much for your kind comments on my last post, they truly did touch my heart.

Wishing you a very Happy Mother's Day!

I remember when your mom died...my kids were upset because "Gramma Routh" died-they never thought of her as your mom - she was Gramma Routh!
