How can we change things......

What is the answer!!!!  Seems our world has become such an angry, violent place.  How did that man in Arizona decide that he had the right to go into that store and randomly take lives of people he didn't even know!  You can say he's crazy but I read letters to the editor in our paper that are from people who exhibit this same anger.  And so often they use their faith as an excuse.  Where does that come from?  I go to church and I never leave there feeling anger -- only peace.  The one thing about my church that I think may be different is that they don't speak of politics.  They speak about God and his love for us.  In all the years I've gone to the Methodist church, I've never heard a sermon that mentioned a political candidate or how we should vote on a political issue.  There's no anger in our church and I'm so grateful.

I just read a blog entry by an Australian that said Australian's were so amazed at the gun laws in the U.S.  In our part of the country, we've learned to not voice our opinions about gun laws.  It seems to bring out such anger and we're afraid of the repercussions.  You can follow a pick-up truck down the road with a gun-rack full of guns and all kinds of bumper stickers but don't you dare put a peace sticker on yours.

I'm praying today that God will show us the way and that we will listen.  Peace!

Jan...
I am praying, for all of the people, who have been touched by this...including the shooter....What a tragedy...I think we turn a blind eye, to much.... instead of reaching out...no one, in their right mind would do this...it's very...very sad... Hand it over... and pray....
God Bless You....

Jan, thank you so much for your wonderful post! When Keil confessed today that he had lied to me as to where he was when I called him and that he was actually in that Safeway, I cannot begin to tell you how I felt! We have stayed close to home today and held our loved ones closer to us. When I came to Tucson in 1998, I thought that our life was perfect. Now I feel heartsick and frightened. Something so beautiful and peaceful has suddenly become something to fear.
