Leaving Vermont.....

Today was our last day in Vermont and what a beautiful day in was.  We had our delicious breakfast in the dining room at Barrows House and a long conversation with the proprietress, Linda.  We felt like we had made a really good friend plus she taught us so much about the history of her area.

This is the cemetery that's next door to the Inn.  The markers go back to the 1700's.  It is so pretty and such a history lesson.

We decided to take the road that went back behind the inn and see where it led.  Every road we took seemed to be more breathtaking then the next.  This was no exception.

I think I've said "look at that" to Judy so many times that she's sick of hearing it but there's just so much to see.  We don't have this kind of history in our part of Missouri and I find that most people that I know aren't too knowledgeable when it comes to our history.  That's one promise I've made to myself -- I'm finding out more about our history.  One should just know about their part of the world.

Well, tomorrow we catch our flight home.  We both are anxious to see our families and sleep in our own beds.  What's really crazy is that Judy's son, Shane, & granddaughter, Jordyn, are in Boston tonight.  Jordyn went to visit Dartmouth College today & will visit a small college in Maine tomorrow.  She's a senior this year and, we're hoping she'll pick a college in the east so we'll have a really good excuse to come back soon.

Thank you for taking us along with you thru your pictures of beautiful Vermont. You've made new memories that you will cherish with sister Judy for the rest of your years. Aren't you glad you took some back roads -- what treasures these scenes are. Can't wait to see your covered bridges from Albany. :-D

Vermont certainly is beautiful this time of year and it looks like you had an absolutely fantastic time. Staying at the inn was perfect as you got a much more personal feel for the area. Hope your trip back home was uneventful and your safe and sound in your own bed again. Best wishes, Tammy

Oh my goodness. This was wonderful! My husband has never been to Vermont and I really, really want to take him.

I'll let him visit vicariously through this lovely autumnal post and then next year he'll be nagging me to catch a plane!

What a pleasure this post was.
