It's Friday.........

I know....I've been so negligent.  Everyday I think this is the day I'll post and then I think, no, I'll wait until I snap a few photos and then another day goes by.  Anyway, this may not be a long post but wanted to let you know I was still kickin'!!!

Yesterday I worked at Leola's adding a few new things and kind of rearranging.  Loved the spinning wheel......

I've been concentrating on my primitives but I've having a really difficult time finding them.  ...

The herbs are coming to life in the garden.....love that!  I picked chives, oregano and thyme and with the help of locally grown spinach, local eggs and organic zucchini, I made an amazing frittata.

We also celebrated my grandgirls 11th birthday.....how can that be!!!!!

Can't believe these girls are 11years old.

Allison's azaleas.....

Seems everything is blooming at the same time in the Ozarks. This is out my back door....

Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend.....so much going on......

Where did the summer go......

Can't believe my little ones (they aren't very little anymore) are getting ready to head back to school.  This summer has flown by and I can't stand to see it go.  Guess we actually have a couple more months of nice weather but it always seems that kids going back to school signals "the end".  It did back when I was in school but waaaaay back then, we didn't start until after Labor Day.  Sometimes I want to yell at father time "SLOW DOWN"!

I know I've been so bad this summer about blogging but to you few who still read Summer Sundays, I'm going to make a real effort to be better at this......we'll see!

My garden has been doing medium well.  I get enough for my everyday needs but not much to freeze.  There are tons of green tomatoes so maybe someday soon.  Meanwhile, Judy and I took off this week and went to visit an old friend of ours from LaRussell.  Kaye lives on a small piece of land not far from Carthage.  It amazes me what women can do when they're not afraid of a little (or a whole lot) of hard work and Kaye definitely is a hard worker.  She has an amazing garden that was overflowing with ripe produce.  We brought home tomatoes, zucchini, peppers and eggs......

Look at those tomatoes lined up on her deck and there were boxes of them below that.  She said she had canned 125 quarts of tomatoes and I forgot how many green beans.....

I love all of her outbuildings.  It was an old farm and she had intended to live in an old rock house but it burned before she could move in.  The rock walls are still standing but that's all.

This is one of several outbuildings that are wonderful.  Some are rock, some old tin, and most are this old wood.

This is her chicken house.  I'm thinking there were 8 chickens.  This is one of the original rock buildings.

This is a sign she made and hung on the coop and yes, she left the "r" of the rooster.  Love it!

They are a happy bunch of chicks.....

Our friend, Murray, met us at Kaye's.  We've all been friend's since school and are all the better for it.

Last weekend was the monthly sale at Fordland and Allison, Stella, Phoebe and I .went.  Judy always participates and everything looked great......

Phoebe wanted the "p" but Mom thought it might be a little large for her room.....

This is there special events room but they also sell the merchandise.  They had their first wedding there a couple of weeks ago.

I bought two of these posts with the hopes of making lamps.  They will make amazing, large, lamps.

It was a fun day and came home with some great treasures.

I have a new computer and it's about to push me to the limits trying to get adjusted to it.  It's just so darn sensitive and has a difficult time doing what I want   it to.  Change is so hard for me!

Hope everyone has a great day.  I'm going to really try to do this more often!!!!!!

Summer Saturdays.......

It's been a beautiful Saturday in the Ozarks.  Warm with a few gentle showers to help the tomatoes grow.  Now tonight I'm sitting on my backporch enjoying the sounds of crickets, frogs and kids next door playing in their pool.

My kids are on their way home from a week in Colorado.  They've had such a good time.

They went with some of their really good friends and think they've had a really good time.  What wonderful memories!  Can't wait to see them!

This was the weekend for the Fordland antique sale.  Love being able to go and take pictures.

The guys have the most beautiful herbs in all kinds of wonderful containers......

This is a small portion of Judy's area.  She likes to do this show and does a little promoting for Leola's.

Hope all of you are having a wonderful weekend and enjoying the same beautiful weather we are.  Have a wonderful Sunday.

Rain, rain, go away....come again another day.....

I'm aware that I should be thankful for our rain but to be honest, I'm really tired of it (or as the old-timers say, I'm "worn slick" with the rain!

The grandgirls were at riding camp this week and this is what it looked like...

But, never-the-less, they loved it....

They were just really sad they couldn't take the horses home for pets....

They'll definitely do it again.  Think they've fallen in love with horses.

I've tried to get some gardening done but find it kind of difficult with all the mud.  We have had enough sun to encourage the growth of most of my veggies.  The lettuce is wonderful but reeeeaaaallly dirty.  The vinegar water method makes such a difference when cleaning it.  If I let it soak for awhile, it comes out so clean.

I did manage to get a batch of strawberry jam made and in the freezer.  Think the strawberries are done for this season with all the rain but blueberries are just appearing at farmer's market.  Can't wait!

We've been working so hard at Leola's.  We've been taking all the doors down and opening it up.  We're intermixing our merchandise for better displays.

It's made such a difference.

My goal for this week is to get some pillows made.  We're hoping business will pick up now that summer has begun.  It's just been pokey and we don't know why.  Keep your fingers crossed!!!!

Have a great weekend....

Catching up.....

Happy Monday morning and hope all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day.  Mine was perfect!  After working Saturday at Leola's and being exhausted from that and a busy week, I made the decision to skip church and sit on the backporch all morning.  It was a good decision.  Then went to the kids for dinner.  My son-in-law fixed a wonderful dinner for me and for his mom and all the kids.  We ate at the big farm table on their backporch.  The weather and everything was perfect.

Spent this morning in the garden.  Added 3 more tomato plants and some rosemary.  The harsh winter killed my rosemary and severely wounded my lavender plants but they're making a great effort to come back.  The lettuces have been picked about three times now and have been able to have some basil.  Did I tell you how much I love my garden!!!!

These are pictures from a friend's wonderful home in the small town of Fordland.  The house was Clive's grandmothers and after she passed away years ago, he moved into it and has done so much work.  He has amazing taste in antiques and decorating as well as his landscaping talents.  He and his partner have a great store in downtown Springfield but decided they wanted to try doing a weekend antique sale in Fordland once a month.  This was the first one and looks like it was a success so they're planning another one next month.

......and Clive.....

Fordland also has a wonderful french restaurant.  We had lunch there one day and I had the best spinach quiche I've ever eaten.  It was custardy and yummy......and took an almond croissant home that was delicious.

I know it doesn't look like the typical french restaurant but it's run by an actual french chef who also teaches culinary arts classes.

This turned out to be longer then I had anticipated but took so many pictures and didn't know where to stop.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.  Ours is supposed to cool significantly....the joy of living in the Ozarks!!!!
