Spring.....YEA.......

Happy first day of Spring!  It's Spring Open House weekend at Leola's and it's forecast to be the perfect weekend.....70 degrees and no rain!!!!  Everything is changing.  The trees all have big buds as do my lilac and forsythia bushes.  I LOVE SPRING!!!!

The finch are slowly turning gold....a sure sign...

Leola's looks absolutely amazing.  Everytime we do an open house I say it's never looked better but this time I feel certain it's true.  We have the most creative people with us....

This is the wool applique pillow that I made and my fabric covered eggs....

Hope it's beautiful wherever you live.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Where is Spring......

Can I just say that I'm done with winter.....no more please!  I really do feel bad because I know many have had it lots worse but today, I'm feeling really sorry for myself.  Not really....I know I have few reasons to feel sorry for myself.  My house is warm, plenty of food (although I did run out of butter) and plenty of good reading material and my sweet grandson and his friend came and shoveled my driveway.

After my daughter shoveled her way out and brought Sage and his friend over, they had it done in no time.  After they finished, I told them how grateful I was and how difficult it is for older women to shovel a complete driveway.  As we drove down the street we spotted another woman about my age shoveling.  Sage suggested we stop and see if she could use their help.  She was so pleased and shocked.  They did hers and she asked if they would mind  shoveling a path for the 84 year old woman one door down to walk down and get in her car later to go to a doctors appointment.  They also did that and put salt I had in the car on the path to melt the ice.  They did it with smiles on their face and felt so good about their accomplishments.

Then we went to Freddy's and they had triple cheeseburgers and large orders of French fries.....life is good!

Leolas Spring Open house is coming soon and I've been perusing Pinterest trying to find an idea for something I could be making.  I have some great merchandise but wish I had something to make during these long days....

I had purchased these chalkwear beauties from a friend and have managed to mark most of them.  I'm a primitive kind of girl but for some reason, I really love these little cuties.  Think maybe they remind me of kitchens when I was growing up.

I'm also marking a collection of ceramic chickens.

Some are salt and pepper shakers while others are just singles and one is a tooth pick holder.  Took a lot of marking.

So grateful for a sunny, beautiful, 40-degree day.  Making myself trapse through the snow and fill the birdfeeders.  The poor birds must wonder what happened to me.  Kept thinking maybe they would eat some of that expensive food they dropped in the snow.  Don't think they want to stand in that snow.....spoiled birds!!!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.....I'm off to Leola's!

Spring open house at Leola's......

It's been a crazy week and I'm exhausted!!!!  Getting ready for an open house is always hard work but when you do it with a bad cold and tendinitis in your right arm, it really raises the bar.  Anyway, it's done and I need a nap.  I was lucky to have lots of people helping me.

Thought you might like to see some pics of the occasion.  Check these out....

Kelli made these adorable little animals from pipe cleaners & think they're all gone.....

The shop looked wonderful......

Hopefully, today will be a good day.  It's nice and warm and lots of people traveling since Branson is beginning to open for the season.  It will be cooling again tomorrow but by the middle of next week, we're suppose to get some nice, warm spring weather.  Can't wait to get in the garden!

I have a few more weeks of physical therapy before I can get back to my normal activities.  It's so hard seeing all of the work that needs to be done in the yard and not able to get out there.  May have to hire someone!

Hope everyone has a good weekend.....

Say a little prayer for Barb Conner http://simplyiowa.blogspot.com/.  Her Mom died last night and her husband has just had surgery.  She's a good friend of ours from Iowa and she seems to have more then her share of pain right now.

Rainy Saturday......

I've really been a slacker this winter with my blog but too many things kept getting in my way like sitting, reading, eating, and stareing out the window at the snow!  I just don't have much get-up-and-go in the winter anymore.  It isn't even depression.....it's just flat-out laziness!  Next year I'm thinking seriously about going away to where it's warmer for awhile.

Anyway, for now I'm thinking Spring!  Yesterday was gorgeous!  We had a good week at Leola's and I actually sold some furniture.  The desire has been strong to sew with ticking so this was my initial project....

I've always loved ticking and by all I've seen, it looks to be big this spring and summer.  Not that it matters to me a whole lot since I've always used it!

I think I'll do some more pillows then maybe a duvet.  A duvet takes so much fabric and it's so expensive and then there's all the time involved.  Usually, when I make something like this, it's something that I wouldn't mind keeping for myself.....just in case!

Love this old tool box!  It was so dirty and just raw wood so it's now clean and has a new coating of polyurethane on it.  That's another thing I love.....old handmade tool boxes.  I'd love to have about 5 pots of ivy growing in it or maybe pots of oregano and thyme.

Loved this arrangement that Brenda did....

And would this table not be wonderful for a coffee table and have some kids chairs to set around it when kids come over and want to eat in front of the TV.  Mine love to do that because I have Disney and they don't have cable at home.

And, yes, these are buds on the trees.....

And this is one of my many squirrels that love my backyard and all of my birdfeeders....

Hope this finds everyone (all 3 of you) well and wishing you a wonderful weekend.  Wanted to post our open house invitation and with it comes a personal invitation for a wonderful evening and weekend to welcome Spring (I'm making cookies).

PEACE.....
